Final Project Brainstorm Map

I want to restructure my approach to the research paper that my Intermediate Writing students (mix of 11th and 12th graders) write toward the end of the semester. One of the goals for the course is to prepare students to write in ways that they will be expected to write in college. In the past, this entailed teaching them different involves modes of writing (expository, descriptive, persuasive, and critical), but I now see the need to also teach them to use the digital writing tools that I'm sure their college coursework will expect them to use. So, what I want to do with the research unit is introduce them to the tools that we are learning about in this class, and teach them how to responsibly use them to enrich their research experience. I will work out more details as I become more familiar with the tools, but the brainstorm map below shows where I think the digital tools will best be incorporated throughout the stages of the unit.

  1. These are good ideas. I also want to appoach my research paper differently, but I am not yet sure how to effectively implement all the tools. I may try to just start with one of two tools and gradually add to that.
